In the first day of the presentations, all three cases are all clearly flawed ethically. It was quite obvious how each theory will evaluate the cases. To me, the group that stood out was the Enron case. Among all the students who present about the Enron case, the two person using Virtue ethics caught my attentions. In total, there are six components in Virtue Ethics, each of the presenters usd different ones to evaluate Enron. The first person used role identity and integrity, and he claimed that Enron's endeavors were clearly unethical. The second person evaluated with integrity and holism, where she pointed out that Enron executives were not utilizing the idea of holism when they started to sell their own stocks. On the second day, these cases vary in terms of whether they are ethical or not. The cryptocurrency case was particularly interesting to me. As we all know, cryptocurrency was invented as a virtual currency to trade in the entire world, but was criticized to be involved in illegal activities. The presenter of Formula of Universal Law said that the Cryptocurrency case was ethical. She highlighted that cryptocurrency is designed to be utilized by everyone and this fits the description of FUL. I paid close attention to this because she said one of the advantage to cryptocurrency was to eliminate the gap between the rich and the poor and she used that to back up for her generalized maxim. From my understanding, FUL entails how people should act based on a universally approved maxim. Here, she used the maxim to the extent that everyone in the entire world could use one single form of currency. I found this evaluation interesting and lead me to believe that she did a successful job presenting it. On the last day of class, all cases that seem to begin with good intentions were presented.
